Good dinner, not spectacular for the price. Friendly staff, good service. I ordered a filet medium, received it medium-well. After all the bread, salad, potato and steak we still weren't full, so we ordered desserts. My wife got a creme brulee which was great. I got the peach cobbler which was awful. Doughy, no texture and bland. Of course we're from OK, we've had some bomb-diggety cobblers. Bottom line is I can cook that well at home. When you pay that much you would like your socks knocked off, ya know?

Prime rib is great it. Bert and his wife are so friendly. We went there New Year's Eve 4 years ago and were hooked. Burt always remembers us. We make back at least 4 to five times times a year. Absolutely the best eating experience in Eureka Springs hands down. We even had our wedding dinner there and now our friends and family our hooked.

We showed up on a Saturday night without reservations but were able to get a table for two. I would suggest a reservation, though, so you might not get seated by the exit, kitchen and bathroom. I like ambience but if I can't read the menu, it is too dark in the restaurant. We ordered two steaks with baked potatoes, mushrooms, and broccoli. All were warm, not hot and our meal took a long time to be served. We must be the exception because everyone else is raving. However, after a hundred dollars spent, I might try something else.

You have to go to Eureka Springs, and when you're there you HAVE to eat at Gaskins. The food is excellent! We had the Shepherd's Pie and Prime Rib. The portions were huge, so there is plenty to share so you have room to try other things on the menu. The salads were fresh and perfect. The bread pudding...fabulous!

We went recently as a group of 9 to celebrate several birthdays, Fathers' Days and an anniversary (June is a busy month for us). When the reservation was made, there was no warning that we would not be able to sit all at one table. But that was the case when we arrived - two tables. While they were close to each other, we still felt split up, and family conversation was difficult. If they had let us know in advance, we might have gone elsewhere. That said, the food was very good and the wait staff was attentive.

Was so looking forward to this place... Ended up being the worst prime rib I've have ever had. Ordered it medium rare. It came out red but it was so dry, I had to force myself to finish barely half. What a bummer. Burgundy mushroom soup was excellent. Creme brûlée they brought because we were so dissatisfied with our meal was good too. I so wanted to love it but I didn't.

Great ribeye and my wife had never tried wine before so they let her try a few before she settled on one and its a good thing too because the one I suggested she hated lol great service great food

I never ever give a 5 star review to a steakhouse because I don't necessarily love steak and because few people are actually masters at the art of cooking steak. BUT this place gets 5 stars! Let's start with the negative (there's only one) parking SUCKS! This joint still gets 5 stars from me because it's Eureka, of course parking sucks. You park in the back of the restaurant on a steep, gravelly hill and have to walk down to the restaurant and (worse) back up the hill after dinner. Now the positives: The landscaping is beautiful. The restaurant is actually an old house and makes you feel very comfy. The staff is super friendly. The owner is awesome and will likely come check on you at some point. The bread is delicious. The prime rib is the BEST I've ever had! (And I've had some pretty amazing prime rib!) Oh! And that French onion soup!!!! There aren't words! This place is just great! Worth the short drive from downtown. Try it!

Gaskins is a must if you are in Eureka Springs! The food is fabulous, best food I have had in the area. The atmosphere is charming and the staff is attentive and nice. I have tried almost everything on the menu and it was all delicious. Don't forget dessert, bread pudding is so good! I'll be back!

We called ahead on a busy weekend and didn't have to wait long. They don't do reservations but they were very busy. The bar tender was a bit short at first but after talking to her for a while she loosened up. If your bartender is not willing to make a drink that is not a standard martini or Bloody Mary you really need to make a drink menu. People that eat at this level want a little variety and to try a house or signature drink. The food was good, not fantastic but good. The filet was perfectly seasoned and cooked to temp. Only baked potatoes or fries for the starch so that left a bit to be desired. The escargot and the scampi are exactly the same recipe so don't order both. The soup was mushroom and it was fantastic but if we hadn't reminded the server we ordered it they would have run out. We got the last cup. We ordered crime brûlée and one coffee(my husband doesn't drink coffee) and we got two coffees and no crime brûlée because they ran out. We were charged for the coffees which I found odd. It was to have with the dessert they couldn't bring. Ambiance was nice. Service was ok. Eureka is a slower pace and you can't expect the same as in large cities. I just don't think I was wowed enough for a return visit.

We just came from this steakhouse, Actually we went there after long hiking and the receptionist tabled us in the Bar Area ... I was wondering why Bar when the restaurant was 30% occupied!!! So I asked our waiter to tabled us inside the restaurant area and the lady (receptionist) found that her attitude was not good at all with us !!!! Shame on the restaurant that they think they are the best in the area Is this your hospitality with your tourists !!!! My son was really got pissed off and kept told me Mom lets go we shouldn't be here , they do not respect us .. I am so sorry .. This will be last time for us

Went with another couple 3 of us ordered ribeye steak, waited over 1 hour to get the meal, when it came meat was under cooked bloody for medium well, and very tough sent back but when steak brought back still under cooked sent it back. Manager did talk with us and his explanation was meat must of came from a old cow! I never have heard of such a thing. We did get meal free but of course couldn't eat it. Waiter gave horrible service avoided us during theses issues.

As an avid carnivore I thoroughly enjoy a great steak. Gaskins Cabin did not disappoint. M'love and I both shared filet and prime rib dinners. We agreed that they were some of the best steaks we've had in a very long time, if not ever. Ignore the haters, it was worth every penny.

After hearing great things about this restaurant, we decided to try it out on our annual trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. We decided to stay and wait the 2 hours after asking people who were on their way out how it was. Everyone gave a resounding, "GREAT!" I'm not sure what happened in those two hours, but our meal, or at least the prime rib, wasn't so great. Three of us had the prime rib and it was all fatty...big globs of fat throughout. So disappointing. Mine had a few decent bites but for $27 you should be able to expect more than a few good bites. The baked potato was outstanding, as was the bread and the cream of mushroom soup. That was amazing! A Long Island Iced Tea was $12 and the pour should have been heavier. I could overlook that if the prime rib had been up to par...but it wasn't. We'll never go back and that's too bad because we had such high hopes.

Ate dinner with friends here last night. The food was great and the service was very good. Service was prompt despite being busy. Our waiter was enthusiastic about wines and was excited to heat about the wines we had brought with us. Corkage was $15, very reasonable and he decanted our bottle. I give the service very good vs. excellent because the menu wasn't presented, with much flair, but more of a "what would you like for dinner?" And I had to ask about the days soup. The food was great. Two of us had prime rib, one rib eye and one filet. All were ordered medium rare and were properly cooked. The cuts were generous and very high quality. I had the mushroom soup, which was described as a cream of mushroom but was more of a bisque. It was truly excellent, I was very impressed. The others had salad and said the dressing was house made and very good. They portions were huge....no one had room for desert. What was quite a disappointment was the bar. We ordered 4 dirty martinis while waiting for our table. The bartender explained that the glasses for martinis had all disappeared and poured them in rock glasses over ice. Two of us opted to not partake. The two that were purchased were really poor. Way too big (a good martini is 4 oz, 6 at most). Never should they be over ice. I would just expect more from such a nice restaurant. Fortunately the food was fantastic! I would definitely go back.

Wife and I ate here on a whim. Reviews were good and the thought of a great Prime Rib were promising. We split an 18 ounce serving, perfect size for us and cooked to perfection. Glad I did not order the smaller cut for myself, I would have been too full to walk out. Oh, don't miss out on their soup. I had their burgundy mushroom soup and my wife had a salad. The salad was good and the homemade dressing outstanding, but the soup was unbelievably good. I let my wife try it and she kept coming back for just one more taste. It was almost embarrassing, we used the bread to get every drop out of the bowl.

I wanted a great steak and our B&B strongly recommended Gaskins. The wait staff was great- friendly and attentive. However, the $33 ribeye steak was a major disappointment. It was cooked perfectly, but the quality of the meat was average at best - something that I would have expected from a lower cost steakhouse.

I've been driving by Gaskins Cabin for about 10 years now, and have always wanted to try it. But finally after years of waiting, tonight was the night. I've read several reviews, and while the majority were positive, a few reviews were pretty bad. I'm not unlike movies reviews, I don't put a lot of faith into reviews, so since they weren't horrible, I figured I'd give it a shot. We arrived about 5:45 on a Thursday night. I figured we'd be the only table since it was early, and a week night, but I was wrong. There were several other tables already enjoying their dinner. I noticed a number of these tables were "regulars" which is a great sign. Typically customers don't return to a bad place. The setting is very quaint, it's a nice setting, with pretty landscaping. This appears to be a old home, so you enter a large room, which is now the bar and reception area. There are a number of other smaller rooms, which are the dining rooms. Our service was very quick, polite, and responsive. The bus boy was quick to remove plates after each course. A gentlemen who I assume was the owner also stopped by for a quick check to make sure everything was going well. You know the old saying, When in Rome, so since Prime Rib is one of their specialities, that's what I ordered. This is a staple meal for me, and I've had it at 100 places, so I know how good or bad it can be. I will say, it was as good as I've ever had anywhere. The salad was simple, and lacked cheese as I recall, but with their Mustard Vinaigrette dressing, it was great. The bread tasted fresh and homemade, and we went through 2 helpings. My wife ordered fish, which she said was excellent as well. On to dessert, I'd heard about their Chocolate Bread Pudding in several reviews, and it was very good. The Key Lime Pie was good as well. The complete meal, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, tax and tip came in at $75 for 2, no drinks. I'll be returning for sure. I can see why they have so many "regulars".

Excellent meal and great service - amazing mushroom burgundy soup, a filet mignon butterflied and cooked expertly, very tender. Don't skip the baked macaroni and cheese and/or the fettuccini - both great. Be sure to get the sautéed mushrooms with your filet mignon.

Nice ambiance, friendly greeter. The waitress was disorganized and in attentive. Prime rib was very good, but "salad" was just lettuce, and mushroom soup had a strange aftertaste making it not worth eating. 20% gratuity automatically added to party of 5 or more, but again the quality of service given did not merit so much, especially given the prices.

  • Julie H.

Really good food and service. Mac n' cheese was excellent. Had that as my side dish. Mushroom soup was excellent. Had rib eye and New York. Cooked just like we wanted. Would definitely come back next time we're in the area.

If there was a lower rating I would have given it! Went there on a Saturday night. Restaurant was very busy and we understood the wait, but after almost an hour we had to begin to ask when we would be seated. They set up some tables in the bar area and sat us there. The service was terrible. The waiter seemed annoyed at having to work the front. Table of five we ordered the prime rib because it is their specialty. The meat was a good size but it was over cooked and very tough. Sitting next to the bar was convenient considering we had to get up and order the drinks ourselves or we would have sat there with empty glasses most of the meal. When the bill came yet another surprise, 20% gratuity on parties of 5 or more and the gratuity was calculated after tax. We have traveled a lot and never paid gratuity on the tax. I guess when you give bad service you must force the gratuity because you know you won't get 20%. There are many restaurants in Eureka Springs....I recommend anything over this one!

I was visiting some friends that took me to this awesome restaurant. The restaurant was charming, the wait staff attentive and very professional. Went here as a guest and I ordered the nightly special of vegetable lasagna, which turned out to be burnt on the bottom. Guess I should have said something, but being a guest I didn't want to make an issue of it, plus our waitress was a little MIA during the meal. My husband and I were not at all impressed with the food especially for the price. The restaurant is charming and if the food was better it would be a wining combination. As part time local we would never go back. Too expensive for the quality and service you get.

I had the prime rib which was incredible cooked to perfection. Loved the entire evening and would definitely go back. A must visit when in Eureka Springs.
